Much like Nelly and his power ballad about Air Force Ones, artists Santogold, Pharrell Williams, and John Casablancas have united to pay tribute to the Converse through verse and synthy production.
On the ménage à trois, Santogold — whose already parlayed one of her hit songs into a Budwiser commercial — tells NME: “Everybody on it does their own separate thing and we didn’t do it together so it ends up being just this weird long song with sort of everybody with lots of their own personalities separate.”
Oh. And about that whole little artist integrity thing and not selling out to the powers that be who are consistently trying to water-down your message for profitability, the rapper continues: “It’s like one of the main ways to get our music heard now and so it’s stupid for artists to shy away from that.”
Translation: This recession effects us all, so don’t be mad at me for securing a well-advised — if I do say so myself — contractual obligation with two other equally talented artists that could further expand my profile as well as allow me to receive pairs of decent sneakers in the process.
And for that, my friend, I am not mad. In fact, I can’t wait to hear the final product. But if this ish is not available for a free download, well, I can’t promise anything…
