“Once their patience was strained, the French people were unforgiving in their condemnation of Sarkozy’s flashy style. He soon became known as “le Président Bling-Bling” in a country where good taste is sacred. “The national conversation changed to the price of watches,” Mano said. More than one person told me approvingly that Bruni has helped bring Sarkozy to his senses, citing the fact that she made him get rid of his big gold Rolex and replace it with a sleek Patek Philippe, and that he no longer creates a ruckus by jogging in the Bois de Boulogne, the public park on the western edge of Paris—not since it became clear that the French were horrified to see pictures of their president sweating.” — On Carla Bruni. Made Me Fall ‘08

When someone combines the edge of streetwear with 90s grunge, French flair, and sprinkles some vinatge Madonna in the mix as well they’re always going to rack pretty high on my cool labels list.

This fall, women’s streetwear designer Erin MaGee teamed up with Peggy Nolan (remember those eye-catchinh graphic low crotch leggings?) and artist James Blagden (Parisian inspired tees) to put together a crazy cool collection of supple leather jackets, flannel tops, and t-shirts with cheeky sayings like “WWMD (What Would Madonna Do)?”

On the new collection, Erin says: “This collection is French inspired - playing on the language to create bold, expressive statements. Speaking of bold, I also wanted to collaborate with James Blagden because of the way he raises contemporary and even taboo issues with humor in his artwork, specifically when he intentionally draws pretty girls only to have them revealed as ugly.”

The MadeMe girl has definitely grown-up with Erin’s third collection. Erin’s pieces overall are much more focused and consistent with someone trying to make the design aesthetic more important what’s actually printed across her customer’s chest. So, if you like Nike hi-tops, good mixtapes and the occasional Madonna reference, look no further than MadeMe for fall.

It seems as though the mini celebrations occurring across America over 90210’s comeback this fall have reached the corporate level.

As of now, anyone who has yet to join the 21st century and a crush on Brenda, Kelly, Brandon, and Dylan can purchase a limited-edition iPod Nano with those four bright faces sketch on its back.

You can also personalize the TV momento with your name. The 8GB mp3 player can be purchased now for $269.

Don’t catch a frown if you can’t cough up the cash to purchase the new gadget. O.P.I. will be making special finger nail polishes this fall that are inspired by the 90s 90210 cast. Ah yes, who ever said reminiscing wasn’t good?

Dior Homme crushin on Justice

While Ed Banger outfit Justice doesn’t make remixes that much anymore, that doesn’t mean the people have stopped asking.

Case in point: Dior Homme

The French luxury label that Hedi Slimane built asked the DJing duo to produce the soundtrack for their spring ‘09 menswear collection.

Much like Friada Giovanni at Gucci, who’s men’s line was inspired by the psychadelic tunes of MGMT, Dior Homme’s Kris Van Assche appears to have had Waters of Nazareth on the brain.

According to Tim blanks of Mens.Style, “The soundtrack provided by Justice had a stop-start quality that could have been interpreted as a metaphor for larger issues-like the way that Van Assche’s creativity ebbs and flows in such a random manner.”

Maybe this explains why there are so many tailored leather jacket and skinny jeans looks. Anyways, if you want to pretend as if you were sitting front row at the Dior Homme show, you can listen to the Justice soundtrack, here.

So in no way, shape, or form may you skip the Around The Way Party that is going down in New York this Saturday. The music? It will be great and there will be tons of cool girls and boys there to dance alongside with.
